Former Republican presidential contender and former President Donald Trump told CNBC on Monday that banning Chinese-owned social app TikTok will only enhance Facebook, which he described as an "enemy of the people."
Speaking on CNBC's "Squawk Box," Trump stated that TikTok has "a lot of good and a lot of bad," but that blocking the platform might help Facebook, which is owned by Meta, increase in size.
Trump, who served as president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, stated in an interview with CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Monday.
Trump's stance on TikTok differs from that of current US President Joe Biden, who has stated that if a law to prohibit the app is passed by Congress, he will sign it.
