My Entrepreneurial Adventure
My Entrepreneurial Adventure

It all began when I was pursuing a BSc in Computer Science during my first year of college. I was really passionate about entering the tech world as a founder, CEO, and business owner.

Greetings, my name is Sahr Emmanuel Gborie. I am the platform's founder and admin for the Hustler blog. 'Hustler' is more than just a blog platform; but it is a community, a mindset, and a relentless commitment to the relentless pursuit of success. Whether you're seeking practical business solutions, in need of motivation to conquer life's challenges, or longing for a tribe of like-minded individuals, our blog is your trusted partner on the road to success.

Additionally, I am the CEO and Founder of WorkBay(formally, AfriLancers). An unparalleled freelancing marketplace, and it is a canvas where dreams, innovation, and expertise unite in a symphony of creativity. It transcends the conventional notions of freelancing platforms, offering an ecosystem that empowers freelancers and businesses to realize their fullest potential.

The account of how I became an entrepreneur is about to be read by you. Let's get going; put on your seatbelt.

HOW IT ALL STARTED?

As I mentioned previously, I began my entrepreneurial adventure in my first year of college.

One day after my first computer programming lessons, I had an idea for starting a tech company when I was in the dorm. not just for Sierra Leone, but for all of Africa. I couldn't stop thinking about it since the inspiration was so potent.

But first, I was unsure of the precise kind of digital company I wanted to found and was thinking about it. However, I have always had a profound desire to create a tech company in Sierra Leone that will be the first of its kind, as well as the first registered and certified.

Throughout my first and second years of college, I couldn't get rid of the dream that had been consuming me like a fire. I was covertly working toward obtaining it since I was so passionate about it.

I ultimately made the decision to start a freelance business during my third year of college. Because I thoroughly researched the market and discovered that Africa as a whole, as well as Sierra Leone, has a large number of skilled Africans. However, 60% of these intelligent Africans are unemployed. There are less job options for them, not because they are careless or lazy, but rather because of this.

Because no government in the world is able to provide work for all of its population, I came to the realization that we cannot hold African governments responsible for the lack of job possibilities in Africa.

I also came to see that all African people have a duty to innovate and create chances that will benefit not just each of us personally but also the entire continent of Africa.

I began pursuing my passion as soon as my market research in 2021 was complete. I enlisted the aid of other IT specialists in India to assist me in creating the web application for freelancing.

Additionally, I required a mentor to guide me on my entrepreneurial journey. For my benefit, I discovered a mentor by the name of Aiman Kabli Wadea A.

Aiman Kabli Wadea is a Saudi American, a serial entrepreneur, a keynote speaker, the creator of the Flourishing Enterpreneural Lifestyle (FELs Global), and the author of various books that are now available on Amazon Kindle.

FELs is an international movement that aims to offer incredible content and motivating thoughts that represent the way of life of successful and aspirational people in diverse areas.

In addition to serving as my mentor, Aiman Kabli Wadea A provided me with financial assistance so that I could realize my dream.

We worked on the project remotely every day from our various places. We took a while to finish the entire project.

We finally finished the entire project in August 2023. The software has undergone vulnerability testing to ensure that it is safe and secure for usage by everyone.

We started our company's registration procedure after developing the online application. We produced all of the required legal paperwork for our company's registration and incorporation in the Sierra Leonean republic. We almost spent two months completing our company's establishment and registration.

We named our company "AfriLancers" (now WorkBay) based on the nature of the issue we discovered in Africa and the solution we offered.

Simply put, "AfriLancers" (now, WorkBay) stands for African Freelancers. It merely consists of two words put together. Our company's brand name was promptly registered as a protected name under copyright.

We ultimately launched the business by the end of August 2023 after the entire process was finished.

This has been my entrepreneurial adventure thus far. Please be aware that as time goes on, I'll be updating this piece frequently.
